US firms create 165,000 new jobs in AprilAccording to the latest figures released, employers in the US created 165,000 new jobs during the month of April, 2013.

Data from the Labor Department showed that US firms added just 88,000 jobs during the month of March. Economists said that the slowdown in the jobs market in the month of the March may have been a seasonal characteristic. Even as the figure of 165,000 was lower than the average rose of 183,000 in the previous three months, it shows that the jobs market is now in recovery.

Data also showed that the total unemployment rate remains at 7.5 per cent in the country indicating that about 11.7 million people are still not employed. The data also showed that there are about 4.4 million people who have been looking for a job since at least half a year. The data showed that the direct government employment dropped another 11,000 in April, 2013.

It is believed that about eight million people were underemployed in the country during the month. Experts have expressed concerns over a jobless recovery in the world's largest economy pointing out that faster job creation is essential for a reliable recovery.
