US unemployment falls to 6.7%

US unemployment falls to 6.7%According to the latest figures released, th total unemployment in the US fell to the levelof 6.7 per cent in the country indicating that that labour market is improving in the world's largest economy.

The Labor Department reported Friday that the employers added just 74,000 new jobs, which is much lower than analyst expectations.  The increase was at its lowest level in almost three years.  However, experts have said that the conditions are temporary as the cold weather might have have influenced the numbers.

The data showed that unemployment rate fell 0.3 percentage point to 6.7 percent, the Labor Department said on Friday.  The rate is the lowest since October 2008 and experts have said that the fall is mainly due to the people leaving the labor force.

The official data has shown that 38,000 new jobs were added in November than previously reported.  There was also a decline in the average workweek, according to the report.
