Verizon cuts prices of More Everything Edge smartphone 10GB+ plans

verizon wirelessVerizon Wireless, the biggest wireless carrier of the United States, on Wednesday slashed the price of its widely popular More Everything Edge smartphone 10GB plans.

Announcing a key strategic change to pricing of its service plan, Verizon said that the price for four smartphones using a 10GB data plan would be $160 for subscribers of the More Everything Edge plans.

The price per smartphone line for subscribers of its Edge upgrade program and had 10GB data plans or more has also been reduced from $20 a month to $15 a month per smartphone line. But, it is worth-mentioning here that this discount is available for only customers who will subscribe for data plan of over 10GB.

Those who use 8GB of data a month will still have to pay $30 per line. In case, the handset is subsidized, the user will still have to pay $40 a month per line. It should be noted here that the carrier doesn't offer subsidized smartphones to users of the Verizon Edge plan.

The carrier said in a statement, "Now, Verizon is charging $15 per month per smartphone line. The carrier said it is not changing the pricing-$30 per line-on plans below 8 GB. The carrier also said that pricing remains the same-$40 per month per line-on plans that include a smartphone subsidy."

The discounts that took effect immediately will, however, not automatically be applied to existing subscribers.

The changes in the service plan pricing showed that the nation's leading wireless carrier is not big enough to ignore the ongoing price war in the mobile market.
