Verizon exploring sale of its enterprise assets

Verizon Communications Inc wants to focus on its core business therefore it is planning to explore a sale of its enterprise assets that may be worth $10 billion. In the sale, a business involved in the landline and the internet services for large business customers previously known as MCI and Terremark, data center unit, will be involved.

For now, the company is into planning mode where it is looking how it can best handle asset sales. It has been said so as it is not easy to separate Verizon’s enterprise assets. No deal has been finalized yet and it is being said that the finalized buyer might have to sign commercial agreements with the company.

Though CenturyLink Inc, wireline provider, was having discussion with Verizon with regard to purchase of some of the assets, the deal could not be finalized. Citigroup Inc is the advisor as it has been suggesting Verizon on possible sale of assets.

Experts affirmed that the competition has increased and the enterprise telecommunications industry needs to adjust as per the requirements of corporate customers who demand more sophisticated and cost effective deals to manage their data.

Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said that they continue to work through tough times with its global enterprise division, which has witnessed decline in profits in the quarter ending on September 30. It has also been said that Verizon has been looking to sell other non-core assets.
