Wipro plans to expand in Kerala

Wipro plans to expand in KeralaWipro Chairman Azim Premji has said that he is interested in expanding the company in Kerala, especially Kochi. This statement comes ahead of the Karnataka Investors' summit that is going to take place this month.

It is important since the investor summit is just one of the very few which are done on an international scale. And with that, Premji's plans hold even more worth since he is trying to tap a relatively untapped potential.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Information Technology Department is trying hard to promote the state as a natural hub and showcasing the potential that the IT and ITeS industry provides.

Wipro already has a private campus in Infopark in Kakkanad. It is made on 10 acre land area and has a built-up space of 10 lakh sq. ft, employing 1,900 people. Here the work of software development and servicing of national and international clients takes place.

Premji added that his main focus would be the outsourcing business. It is also said that he has agreed to expand the campus on request from the Chief Minister, V. S. Achuthanandan.

The BPO will take place mostly in the field of law and finance.
