Wisconsin firm organises annual ‘Running of the Roaches’ event
Batzner Pest Management, a leading pest control company in Wisconsin has organised its annual `Running of the Roaches' charity fundraiser.
The company is organising its 13th annual "Running of the Roaches" on Thursday in New Berlin in the state. A total of 9 Madagascar hissing cockroaches raced on a 8 foot long track, which was custom built for the purpose and each of the cockroaches were guided with a straw.
Training manager Karl Rowell also said jokingly that the cockroaches were even trained in the morning. The company is donating $500 to the Fisher House Foundation from the winning team. The charity helps families of patients at military and veterans medical centres. The winning team will get bragging rights and also the right to place pictures of roaches on the losers' desks.
Cockroaches may be a matter of nightmares for many people but the charity is using them in a fun and exciting way to raise money for the noble cause in the northern state. Eh charity event will raise awareness and help fund needed charity works in the state.
