Work experience is critical, even for graduates
A survey done by a recruitment agency has shown that in UK many employers look out for work experience even in case of graduates. That being the case, it becomes very critical for them to have some kind of prior experience to be able to get a job.
Known as the High Fliers' graduate jobs survey, it was done taking into consideration some 100 leading employers. The survey also shows that the overall job market is quite optimistic and this year there are 9 per cent more vacancies than last year.
But, it also said that the graduate job market has not recovered from the per-recession levels. And that also means that competition has increased greatly. The markets are no where closer to the levels they had achieved in 2007.
During the year 2008 and 2009, the total graduate vacancies went down. And even now though the employer confidence has grown in this area, there are 6 per cent lesser opportunities. Then there has been a growing competition between graduates and university leavers.
Martin Birchall High Fliers managing director said that those who don't have prior experience have no chance of getting well-paid jobs.
