XPeng achieves all-time high EV sales in November 2023

XPeng, a fast-growing Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, continued its remarkable growth trajectory in November this year as it achieved a new milestone with a record-breaking performance in global electric car deliveries. As per released stats, XPeng delivered an impressive 20,041 all-electric vehicles (BEVs) worldwide last month, marking a staggering 245 per cent surge compared to the corresponding period of 2022. It was the company’s 10th month of sales growth in a row, and the milestone represents the second time in the company’s history when it surpassed the 20,000-unit delivery mark.

Inspired by Elon Musk-led American electric car pioneer Tesla Motors, XPeng has carved a niche by implementing advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and introducing a number of competitive EV models.

Notably, a significant portion of the Chinese brand’s sales continued to emerge from within China. The XPeng G6, which is often regarded as an apt competitor to Tesla's Model Y crossover SUV, continues to be the flagship model in the lineup. It made a significant contribution by attracting 8,750 buyers during the month under review, dominating the $28,280 to $35,350 (200,000 to 250,000 CNY) price segment. These figures are enough to affirm the XPeng G6’s popularity among consumers.

The collective sales of the brand’s non-G6 electric cars, including models like G3/G3i, G9, P5, and P7/P7i, also demonstrated strong growth by registering customer deliveries of 11,291 units. This figure represents an impressive 94 per cent increase year-over-year.

Adding to its already big portfolio, XPeng unveiled a large seven-seater MPV, called the XPeng X9, at the 2023 Auto Guangzhou event last month. The XPeng X9, which is based on the SEPA2.0 architecture, is scheduled to join the expanding lineup of XPeng electric models sooner than later, catering to diverse consumer preferences.

When it comes to year-to-date (YTD) sales performance, the Chinese manufacturer delivered more than 120,000 units, marking an increase of 11 per cent from the corresponding period of last year.

The steady growth observed in the last four months suggests that the company will potentially enjoy a record-breaking year in 2023, surpassing its previous annual sales figures. With cumulative EV deliveries totaling 380,196 units by the end of November, XPeng continues to solidify its position in the highly competitive EV market. Of course, it is a positive sign, but it remains quite early to determine if this trend will facilitate the brand’s path to sustainable profitability.
