13 People Hospitalized With Bird Flu Symptoms

A village in Indonesia could be under grip of bird flu. According to officials, 13 People Hospitalized With Bird Flu Symptoms13 people from a village in North Sumatra were admitted in hospital this week after complaints of fever. Bird flu surveillance team from Indonesia's health ministry visited Air Batu village to analyze possible symptoms of bird flu. Blood samples of the patients have been sent for the test of bird flu.

North Sumatra provincial health office chief Chandra Syafei said, "We suspect an outbreak of bird flu judging by the number of people who have fallen ill with bird flu symptoms. We are now waiting for the results of blood samples we sent to Jakarta.''

Officials are waiting for the test reports of the blood samples. Officials have found some dead chickens with H5N1 bird flu virus. In May 2006, 7 people died in the Karo district of North Sumatra province due to bird flu. Last week a 19-year-old man died from bird flu.

Medical experts all over the world are waiting for the reports of 13 people admitted in hospitals. Blood reports of these people will clarify the suspicion of bird flu. Doctors fear that bird flu virus might mutate into a pandemic strain.

This deadly virus has taken life of 243 people in 15 countries since 2003. Medical experts are checking every possible sign of genetic mutation in the infected people in Indonesia. Medical experts fear that this deadly virus can spark a pandemic which will take millions of lives.
