17 injured in Guwahati blast
Guwahati, Jan 14: At least 17 people were injured in a grenade blast that rocked Guwahati last evening.
The injured, included a minor girl, were admitted to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, while four were treated for splinter injuries at a nearby private hospital.
The blast, which took place on the eve of the Assam’s harvest festival Bhogali Bihu near the Guwahati railway station, occurred at around 7.30 p. m.
A top police official of the state told reporters that according to preliminary investigation, the grenade was lobbed by a militant of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) at a CRPF platoon on patrol duty.
In the wake of the blast, tight security arrangements have been made in view of the festival celebrations in the state. (ANI)
