200 electric cars to make London Olympics greenest ever More than 200 electric cars will be released on the streets of London as part of effort to make the London Olympics, the greenest ever.

EDF Energy has partnered another London 2012 sustainability partner BMW to promote the use of electric vehicles. The Mini E car will ferry guests and VIPs between venues during the mega evetn next year.

Gareth Wynn, director of EDF’s 2012 programme, said, “I hope that seeing this iconic fully-electric vehicle will prompt people to think about how they can reduce the carbon footprint of their travel. We want to help our customers think about what they can do to be greener.

The Mini E can travel can travel 100 miles on a single charge and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds. Jochen Goller, director of Mini UK said that the company is working with the organizers to ake the games most sustainable ever.
