Around 30 pupils reported feelings of nausea after consuming iron pills at a school in Amritsar on Friday.

The incident occurred at the Government Senior Secondary School situated in the neighborhood of Hakima Gate in Amritsar.

The young pupils complained of sharp pain in the stomach. Some vomited after taking the medications.

School authorities swung into action and admitted the children to the Civil Hospital.

Dr. Balwinder Kumar Kakkar, Additional Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Amritsar stated, "We received a message over phone that children have fallen sick in a school at Hakima Gate. We rushed two attendants and an ambulance there. There we saw that some children were feeling nausea and some of them were vomiting. These children were brought here and admitted to hospital."

Dr. Balwinder said that a complete inquiry of the incident is going on.

The school administration has been hauled up for carelessness and is being held responsible for the incident. (With Inputs from Agencies)
