Acer Recalls Aspire Laptops Due To Overheating Issue

AcerPC maker Acer has recalled a few of its Acer Aspire laptop computers, which may overheat owing to a defective microphone cable.

On a European customer support page, the company stated that it has issued a voluntary recall for some Acer Aspire laptops that may be affected by the issue.

The units recalled comprise Acer Aspire models AS3810TZG, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ, AS3410 & AS3810T made up before September 15, 2009.

The problem seems to be that the microphone cable, which could make laptop computers to heat up when intense pressure is applied frequently to the left palm rest. This reportedly causes the unit's case to get deformed and the system may break down.

The company said that it would change the microphone cable in order to eradicate the overheating risk.

Users have to verify the serial or identification number through the Internet site to find out whether their laptop computers are entitled for the recall.

Acer did not provide any additional information regarding the voluntary recall.
