Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit has informed that the file pertaining to convict Afzal Guru will be decided by the Union Home Ministry. Afzal Guru is the main accused of attack on Parliament. He had received death sentence by hanging.

But later he has filed a mercy petition to the Government. But the Delhi Chief Minister has made it very clear that she has nothing to do with such issues. This will be taken care by the Union Home Ministry. Answering back to the queries of reporters about the next mode of action regarding Guru's mercy petition, Mrs. Dikshit has informed this. She has also said that the file has been sent to the Lt Governor for further action and the Home Ministry will take the decision on the issue regarding Afzal Guru's mercy petition.

The views of Lt Governor will be taken into consideration on the mercy petition and then it will be hand over to the Home Ministry. Through out the execution, the Centre has been asked by the City government to take care of the law and order.
