AI No.3 in operating flights

Air-IndiaA report has stated that Air India comes to third position when it comes to operations. But when it is about market share then it stands at number four. The first three are- Jet Airways, Kingfisher and IndiGo.

This, said the report, has happened since Air India has been able to operate far lesser number of flights that it has both on the domestic and international side during the last year. This is as compared to other airlines in India.

Meanwhile, when it comes to jet Airways, it and its subsidiary JetLite flew close to 1,42,101 flights while Kingfisher Airlines had some 1,20,362 flights operated. As for Air India, the number stood at 1,01,352 flights.

Considering the fact that a state-airlines has been put at a lower platform, Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi took the issue on serious grounds. The Air India employees' union has also alleged that the airline has stopped operations of its profitable ventures so that private airlines are benefited.

These unions had also alleged that both Indian Airlines and Air India merged so that they are able to allow private players to fly to Middle-East.
