Aircel sponsorship keeps Chennai Open in the city

Baskar of Aircel, exchange the agreement for the Aircel Chennai Open.The Chennai Open Tennis Championship will remain in the city for at least next two years at least as Aircel has been named as new title sponsors for the only ATP tournament in the country, as reported by Tamil Nadu Tennis Association (TNTA) on Tuesday.

The clouds of uncertainty surrounded Chennai Open after they were not able to find sponsor for this tournament. But telecom company Aircel has decided to sponsor this tournament and assured continuance of this tournament in the city.

The 15th edition of Chennai Open will kick off from 4th January next year at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Chennai. Chennai has hosted 13 consecutive editions of this ATP tournament after the inaugural event in New Delhi in 1996.

TNTA president M.A. Alagappan said that Chennai would continue to host the ATP tournament and Aircel would be new title sponsors from the next season. He appreciated government support saying that without support of Indian government they could not have been able to continue this tournament in the city.
