Ajmal vows to bounce back following poor performance in first two Lanka Tests

Saeed AjmalSharjah, Jan 15  : Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, who has been able to take just five wickets in the two Tests against Sri Lanka, has vowed to to bounce back in the third Test of the series.

Ajmal, who has taken 164 wickets in 32 Tests at an average of five wickets per match, said he had never had such a bad response from the pitches.

He further said he is doing the hard work and will bounce back, and added that the ball isn't spinning and Lankans are playing very cautiously.

Ajmal went wicketless in his 49 overs in the second innings of the first Test in Abu Dhabi, where Sri Lanka came away with a draw after conceding a 179-run lead, Sport24 reports.

Ajmal denied he was feeling overworked, having played in all three formats since his international debut in 2008.

Pakistan coach Dav Whatmore also agreed Ajmal had struggled to get any response from the pitches. (ANI)
