Amazon. com might be planning to launch a new digital book library service allowing users to pay a yearly subscription fees for accessing a library of content, according to reports.

It is not known how committed Amazon or its partners will be to the idea. According to some sources, publishers are not very keen on the project as they believe that it will reduce the price of e-books. However, the move shows that the companies are increasing looking at offering digital content as more and more users read books on their computers, tablets and other electronic devices.

Amazon has reportedly approached publishers with an idea of creating a library of old titles. The new service will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers, who pay $79 a year for unlimited two-day shipping and access to movies and TV shows.

The company is planning to offer substantial amount of revenues to the publishers to attract them to the service and offer content. The company could also restrict the number of books that can be accessed by Amazon Prime subscribers in a month.

Amazon has not responded to the reports about the new service.
