The Indian Cricket League (ICL) will be able to organize its league matches in
Ahmedabad as Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to charter out its Sardar Patel Stadium, in Narapura area to the League (ICL) for the next ten years.
Deputy Commissioner of AMC Captain Dilip Mahajan said, “AMC's Standing Committee today cleared the proposal to lease the stadium to ICL for ten years with Rs 12 lakh per year. ICL matches will be played here in two phases - during October and November and then in February and March.”
Mahajan also made it clear that a total of 20 matches will be played every year and ICL will be responsible for the maintenance of the stadium.
On the other hand ICL said that it would spend Rs 10 crore on refurbishing the dressing room, stand, common area and rennovation of pathways. Besides this the League will also develop new floodlights and new chairs in the stadium. The League plans to spend nearly Rs 3-4 crore on the floodlights at the stadium.
The Indian Cricket League (ICL) is a private cricket league that runs parallel to the existing cricket league managed by BCCI. Matches of ICL are held at Tau Devi Lal stadium in Panchkula, near Chandigarh, Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad, Mayajaal Cricket Ground in Chennai and Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon, near New Delhi.
