Amcom’s net profit rises 20% in six months to DecemberAmcom Telecommunications has said that its net profit before significant items has increased 20 per cent to $10.05 million during the six month period till December, 2012.

The company said that the reported net profit fell 62 per cent at $9.95 million mainly due to a one-time profit of $18 million from the distribution of iinet shares to Amcom shareholders in the previous year.

Amcom chief executive Clive Stein said that the company is expecting a growth of about 20 per cent in underlying net profit for the entire financial year mainly due to strong sales figures. He said that the company is well placed to take advantage of the predicted rise of data storage by 50 times in the decade till 2020.

He also said that Amcom Telecommunications is likely to benefit from the expected 100 per cent rise in business data traffic between 2011 and 2016. The company provides telecommunications services to business and government customers.

Mr Stein said, "We think we have all the right ingredients to be very successful. We are operating in very large markets and we have very small market share, so that means obviously we have got tremendous headroom to grow."

The company has 1,400 clients and it operated a fibre-optic network in Perth, Adelaide and Darwin in Australia.
