Viswanathan Anand has defeated Peter Leko in 8-game rapid match in Miskolc Rapid tournament which held in the National Theatre of Miskolc from 2-7 June 2009.

Anand defeated Leko by 5-3 in Miskolc Rapid tournament which includes two wins by Anand against Leko.

On the final day, Leko needed to win both games to force blitz tie-breaker games but both games ended in a draw.

Leko plays with the strong players of chess every year in a rapid format match in Miskolc which started from playing with Adams in 2005 and in 2008, he played with Carlsen.

This year Leko played with world champion Viswanathan Anand.

There were 8 rapid games in the Anand-Leko match of 25 +10 increment and blitz games will decide the winner in case of a tie.
