Apollo Tyres eying a deal with Volkswagen in Europe
Running hard with an aim to expand its global footprint, the home-grown Apollo Tyres is in talks with Volkswagen to supply tyres to the European unit of the auto major.
Apollo Tyres Managing Director Neeraj Kanwar said that the company has recently inked a deal with the auto major in the Indian market to be a supplier for its products and it is in talks with the company for a similar tie-up in the European markets as well.
In fact, the tyre manufacturer is looking at leveraging from a company that it acquired last year for around 36 million Euros i.e. the Dutch firm Vredestein. Notably, Vredestein is already in a tie-up with Volkswagen.
Apollo Vredestein Chief Marketing Officer Marc Luyten said that the company will now start talking about both the brands of the company to the auto major.
The company has recently forayed into the European markets and is planning to partner with established retailers rather than going for the wholesale route. It is on the track of touching the target of a turnover of close to $5 billion in the next five years.
