Apple to build new cutting-edge headquarters

Apple to build new cutting-edge headquartersTechnology giant, Apple is planning to build a new a 'spaceship'-type campus in the company's home town of Cupertino, California.

The company is aiming to move to the new office, which it believes could be the best office building in the world, by 2015. Apple Chief Executive Officer, Steve Jobs announced the company’s plan during the Cupertino City Council meeting on June 7.

The new office will add additional capacity to the existing facility. It will allow the company to bring together Apple employees spread across various rented offices around the city. Mr. Jobs appealed for the approval to the new project with affirming the company’s commitment to stay in the place where they began.

He expressed his love for Cupertino and described what the company is aiming to construct. The facility will be massive and house 12,000 employees under a single roof.

A center courtyard will be surrounded by a completely circular building. The building will aim to create its own energy with natural gas and the grid as backup.

Most of the parking space will be underground allowing about 80 per cent of 150 acres landscaped to be kept as green-space. Mr. Jobs also aims to increase the number of trees from 3700 to 6000 and include an Apricot orchard. The facility will also include a cafeteria that can seat 3000 people, a fitness facility and adequate safety infrastructure.

It appears that there will be almost no opposition to the plans for the city officials. Mayor Gilbert Wong said during a Wednesday a press conference, "There is no chance that we're saying no." However, he later changed his wordings to "nothing is a sure thing," still Apple has nothing to be concerned as there are strong indications that the project will be approved without any problems for the worlds largest technology company.
