Apple to enter the HDTV platform
Raising sparks of its latest venture of Apple, Gene Munster a senior research analyst at Piper Jaffray says, Apple might enter in the competitive area of HDTV by 2012.
As Munster states, Apple has the potential to deliver HDTV at $2000 (roughly £1340) and with the current offering in Apple's Cinema HD Display, which is a 30-inch mammoth flat panel costing $1799, it is quite possible that Apple could bring a 42 inch model featuring only HD.
Munster further supported his statement by saying, "As connected TVs proliferate the integration of hardware, software and content will become a key selling point for TVs."
Apple is seeking for a merger based acquisition where it can possibly integrate the features of Apple TV with PVR capabilities such as introduction of blue-ray player.
However the hitch with Apple TV remains the iTunes store which doesn't support the Live television which hints that Apple has to join hands with local cables to offer subscription. Perhaps, it still remains unknown if Apple will come out with this platform or not.
