The luxury cars manufacturer of German – Audi is reportedly working to develop a convertible version of its R8 supercar. The Audi insiders have confirmed that Audi is gearing up to roll out the Audi R8 “Spyder” by 2011.
The anonymous insiders of Audi have reported to the automotive website ‘WhatCar?’ that convertible version of the Audi R8 should hit the showrooms in the next two years.
The company insiders have reported that the convertible version of Audi R8 supercar will feature a full-length convertible roof made up of fabric. However, the insiders did not confirm whether the R8 Cabriolet will use the V8 or V10 engine from the car’s current line-up. The insiders did not offer any information about the price and exact release time of the car.
The reported convertible version of Audi R8 supercar is expected to compete with the likes of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster and the Porsche 911 Cabriolet. Audi has released Audi R8 in India; the car performed extremely well in India. Now, it will be interesting to see how the convertible version of Audi R8 performs in India.
