Australia inflation rises 1.2% in third quarterAccording to the latest figures released, the consumer prices in Australia have risen 1.2 per cent during the third quarter of the year compared to the previous three months.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday showed that the rate was higher than an increase of 0.8 per cent forecasts. The country had recorded an increase of 0.4 per cent during the second quarter of the year.

The data also showed that the automotive fuel recorded the highest rise with 7.6 per cent, holiday travel and accommodation was at 6.1 per cent, electricity at 4.4 per cent, property rates and charges at 7.9 per cent, water and sewerage at 9.9 per cent and domestic holiday travel and accommodation at 3.5 per cent.

On the other hand, vegetables recorded the steepest fall of 4.5 per cent in prices during the quarter. As for individual components, prices for transportation rose 2.4 per cent from the previous quarter, followed by housing at 2 per cent, recreation at 1.9 per cent, clothing at 1.1 per cent, alcohol at 0.9 per cent and insurance at 0.4 per cent. The overall consumer prices were up 2.2 per cent in the country after gaining 2.4 per cent in the previous three months.
