Australian police clock Ferrari at 231kph
Sydney - A Ferrari being driven by a motoring correspondent went through a police speed check at 231 kilometres per hour, the Perth Now website reported Monday.
The rare Ferrari California, worth nearly 500,000 Australian dollars (400,000 US dollars), was immediately impounded for being caught at more than double the speed limit.
Western Australia Police charged the 57-year-old driver with reckless driving.
"The incident should serve to remind drivers that regardless of a car's capabilities, excessive speed is a contributing factor in about 60 people dying on our roads each year," a police spokesman said.(dpa)
