Bagan warns to boycott Durand Cup

football has warned to boycott the Durand Cup due to poor ground conditions at the Ambedkar Stadium. Indian team had lost to Lebanon in the opening match of the Nehru Cup and India's coach Bob Houghton blamed poor ground conditions for the defeat.

Indian defender NS Manju sustained toe injury in that match. Manju plays for Bagan in the domestic football tournaments. Mohun Bagan secretary Anjan Mitra said they would pull themselves out of the Durand Cup if the ground conditions at the Ambedkar Stadium did not improved as they could not take risk of sustaining injuries by their players at the start of the season.

Durand Cup will kick off from September 11 at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi and Bagan and East Bengal have announced to take part in the tournament. Both clubs had not participated in the tournament for last two years.

Meanwhile, Snehashish Chakraborty has been announced as a free player by the Indian Football Association (IFA) on Tuesday. He is training with the Mohun Bagan team and he could also play in the Bagan team in the upcoming IFA Shield.
