The adorable 'Child bride' of small screen, Anandi is lastly set to take a leap to 'womenhood'.

TV's popular show 'Balika Vadhu' is all set to take an age leap shortly with the adult Anandi to be made through a public poll.

According to sources, 'Balika Vadhu', the flagship show of the Colors General entertainment channel, is poised to take a 5 year age leap in the future.

Bit, in a first of its kind initiative on Indian television, Colors has decided to give the audience the authority to settle on who should be substituting Avika Gor who plays the character of Anandi.

Colors revealed 3 new faces, which are being considered for the role.

The three girls shortlisted for the role include a bubbly small town 19-year-old pretty girl from Jamshedpur Pratyusha Banerjee [A], Lucknow's Nivedita Tiwari[B] - a good-looking young girl with a cute smile and a refreshing innocent personality and Mumbai's Ketaki Chitale [C]- a fresher and an avid Balika Vadhu fan.

While announcing the new plan, programming Head of Colors channel, Ashvini Yardi said, ''Balika Vadhu, our flagship show, has become a part of people's lives. The appreciation and the loyalty of viewers made the serial a success that it is today. Now as the show is poised for an age leap, we wanted our viewers to give their preference as to who should play the role of adult Anandi. We value our viewers and their choices and hence decided to come up with this initiative.''

Dealing with the issue of child marriage, 'Balika Vadhu' is narrated through the story of Anandi, the child bride.

Avika Gor, who plays the character of Anandi, has a cult following of sorts thanks to the innocence and sense of wonder she brings to a mature role.

The show will shortly be taking a 5 year leap into the future to depict the troubles confronted by child brides as they grow into their roles from being just playmates to their husbands to taking up the responsibility of a marriage.

Those linked with the channel stated that the five year leap to the TV show is aimed at bringing in some fresh change to the tale of the show while pulling in some newer challenges and a lot more excitement to it.

The age leap to 'Balika Vadhu' will surely evoke renewed curiosity of the viewers towards the show.
