Bangalore has a compressible car

Bangalore has a compressible carBangalore, May 23 : Mechanical Engineering students of a Bangalore college have developed a compressible car, which can be of great help to those who are faced with parking or traffic problem.

The car named LARSA (Linearly Actuated Retractable Sedan Type Automobile) has been designed by final year mechanical engineering students of the MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology.

"We decided to do something related to automotive, since all of us were interested in it. Finally, we thought of a concept car which could reduce the parking space and the traffic space as Bangalore is becoming overly populated these days," said Sooraj, one of the car making group of students.

It's a next generation prototype car where a four-seater car can be compressed into a two-seater with the push of a button. Its concept is so innovative that not only the car's body, even the boot space of the car can be compressed. The 15 feet car can be compressed to
11 feet, when required.

Students developed the car for their project work. However, following its successful functioning, they wish to get their innovation patented.

Today, the innovative students are looking forward to approach a car manufacturing company.

This special car will be put on display at the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras) in December this year and also at other technological fairs. (ANI)
