Barcelona confirm signing of Shakhtar defender Chygrynskiy

Txiki-BegiristaiMadrid  - Barcelona technical secretary Txiki Begiristain confirmed on Thursday the signing of Dmytro Chygrynskiy from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Before leaving for Friday's European Supercup showpiece in Monte Carlo against Shakhtar, Begiristain told the Spanish media that "Chygrynskiy is going to come and he is going to be very good for us."

He added that the signing "will turn out to be cheap if he plays for 10 years for us."

It is believed that Barca will pay around 25 million euros (35.67 million dollars) for the 22 year-old defender, whom coach Josep Guardiola has been asking for all summer.

Guardiola is keen to reinforce his defence, partly because Rafa Marquez and Gabriel Milito are both injured.

Chygrynskiy is keen to play his last game for Shakhtar against Barca in the Supercup, and will then sign a five-year contract with the Catalans.

He will be Barca's third summer signing, after Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Maxwell, both from Inter Milan.(dpa)
