Berlin - Berlin's Adlon hotel, from where Michael Jackson famously dangled his baby son from a balcony, expressed its condolences on Friday at the death of their former guest.
"We greatly regret his death," said the hotel's spokeswoman Sabine Kalkmann, adding that the Adlon was not able to comment further for reasons of discretion.
The images went around the world in 2002, when Jackson dangled his nine-month old sun Prince Michael II over the balustrade of a fourth-floor hotel room, veiled in a blanket.
Jackson's fans were dismayed, as criticism flooded in. British tabloid daily Sun called the stunt "Bad and dangerous," referring to two of Jackson's album titles.
Later, Jackson issued an apology at the Adlon Hotel, saying, "I made a terrible mistake."
Jackson had stayed in the luxury hotel's presidential suite, facing the Brandenburg gate in central Berlin, during a trip to Berlin.
At the time, a hotel butler named Ricardo was assigned to attend to Jackson's needs. The hotel said Ricardo was not available to comment, as he was "exceedingly discreet."(dpa)
