BJP leaders, activists celebrate Republic Day with patriotic fervour New Delhi, Jan. 26 : Leaders and activists of the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated India's 64th Republic Day on Saturday with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.

The people of the country get to witness the military valour and country''s rich cultural heritage during the parade.

Newly appointed BJP president Rajnath Singh unfurled the Indian flag and everyone stood in attention as they sang the national anthem.

Singh said that it was important for everyone to ensure that the problems facing the country are addressed and the nation treads on the path of development.

"He (President) has expressed his concern as many people still have to sleep without having a meal. His intention was to highlight as to what steps need to be taken in order to get rid of this problem, and all of us, should think about this problem. On the occasion of Republic Day, I would not like to drive the President''s address into any kind of controversy. We should understand his intention," said Singh.

It was on 26th January that India adopted the constitution after it gained independence from Britain in 1947. (ANI)
