BJP president meets former Karnataka minister

Nitin GadkariNew Delhi, Jan 5 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari Tuesday promised to examine the case of former Karnataka minister Shobha Karandlage, who quit the ministry following a revolt that hit the BJP government in the state last year, party sources said.

The sources said Karandlage Tuesday met Gadkari for about half hour and explained the circumstances that forced Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa to ask her to resign in a bid to placate the dissidents.

The sources said BJP leader Arun Jaitley was also present at the meeting, which took place after Karandlage flew to New Delhi for a day.

She reportedly told the BJP president that she was not keen to hold a party post and that she was busy working in areas ravaged by floods last year, the sources said.(IANS)
