Boeing to accept bids for dozen sites for 777 jet facilityUS aviation giant, Boeing is planning to set up a manufacturing facility to produce its upgraded 777 twin-aisle jet and will accept bids form more than a dozen sites for basing its facility.

The company has invited several U. S. locations to compete in a bidding process to determine the location for its new 777 long-haul passenger jet facility, according to a spokesperson for the company. Boeing has already issued a request for proposals on Friday and will accept submissions till mid-December.  The company will arrive at a decision early next year. the company has not named the locations that have been invited to bid for the facility that will ensure job security for several years.

It is believed that that South Carolina, Alabama, Texas, Utah, California, Kansas, Missouri and Washington state are in the race to host the facility.  Washington Governor Jay Inslee, who is working to secure the project for the state by proposing a package of tax incentives and transportation infrastructure investments that will provide $8 billion in benefits to the Chicago-based aerospace company till 2040.

Tom Wroblewski, president of the union's District 751, said an agreement between the union and the management would provide job security to thousands of union workers in the region.
