The second seeded pair of India's Rohan Bopanna and Hsun Yen Lu of Taipei clinched a thriller to advance into the quarterfinal of the men's doubles event of the USD 1,25,00 ATP Tashkent Challenger at the Olympic tennis Stadium in Tashkent on Tuesday.
The Indo-Taipei duo defeated Deniss Pavlovs of Latvia and Vaja Uzakov of Uzbekistan in a three setter match 6-4 6-7(3) 12-10 after fighting hard for one hour and 20 minutes. Bopanna-Lu won the first set but lost second set after it went to tie-breaker.
The final set turned out a thriller as it went to Super tie-breaker. Bopanna-Lu were once trialing 9-10 in the Super tie-breaker but they held their nerves to clinch the decider set and the opening match to advance into next round. Meanwhile, in another match Indian pair of Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja crashed out of the tournament after they went down to Spanish pair of Inigo Cervantes Huegun and Guillermo Plaso 6-3 3-6 4-10 in the first round of the men's doubles event
