Breathing, a problem if you’re a Melbourne west resident
If you are Melbourne west resident a warning is coming your way by The Environment Protection Authority (EPA). The EPA has made clear that the quality of the air in that particular area is not of the quality that is in the rest of Australia. The poor air quality is a matter of great concern for the people with respiratory problems.
These people specially are warned to stay indoors on hot and windy days because of the dust being blown outside can cause serious respiratory problems. The dust mainly comes from the Brooklyn industrial estate nearby. People thus are advised to take precautions till the problem is fixed. The EPA tests have revealed that national air quality standards were not taken care of on 13 out of 100 days in Brooklyn and some parts of Yarraville.
The dust needs to be contained by some way or the other is what EPA has briefed to the Brooklyn Industrial estate. "We are out there now, working with those operators and holding them to account, to make sure that dust is reduced," said The EPA's chief executive, John Merritt.
