Public sector Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is ready to launch its wireless broadband services in Sikkim in during the existing financial year (2010-11).
The company also said that it will also augment its connectivity for broadband, landlines and 2G and 3G networks in Sikkim.
While informing this, BSNL General Manager (Gangtok) SK Mahato said that BSNL would come up with 15 new broadband BTS to cover all educational institutions, BAC and central office of gram panchayats.
In addition, the work for positioning optical fibre cable (OFC) was under progress and a path linking Gangtok to Siliguri through Darjeeling had also been set up.
Mr. Mahato also said that besides the subsisting optical fibre cable network, another OFC network was being established to Gangtok from Siliguri through Kalimpong that would be finished by November this year.
In addition, 35 BTS covering 95-99% of the region in Sikkim would be establish for assuring securer connectivity. (With Inputs from Agencies)
