In a significant move, country's second largest mobile-phone operator, Reliance Communications (RCom) has decided to repurchased US $ 5 Million (about Rs 25.26 crore) foreign currency convertible bonds (FCCBs) at discount from the international markets.
In a disclosure to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the Mumbai based company, owned by Anil Ambani said that it has bought back 50 zero coupon FCCBs aggregating Rs 25.26 crore.
The filing further added that the repurchased bonds are expected to extinguish on April 15, 2009.

ABB, a leader in power and automation technologies, has signed a frame agreement with BMW Group to support the carmaker’s operations in Germany, the U.K. and the U.S.
Under the arrangement, ABB will supply 2,100 industrial robots over five years, beginning 2010 and commission a variety of robot models for BMW, including the IRB 6640, 6620, 7600 and the new mid range robot IRB 4600; a compact, light-weight industrial robot with the longest vertical reach in its class.
Taipei - German wind-power firm InfraVest GmbH on Monday threatened to quit Taiwan over what it claims is Taipei's reluctance to promote renewable power. InfraVest chairman Karl-Eugen Feifel told a news conference that unless Taiwan improves conditions for developing renewable power, InfraVest may quit Taiwan and consider looking for another country.
He complained that Taiwan's parliament had not adopted a bill on promoting renewable energy and the Taiwan Power Co's purchase price for InfraVest's power is too low.
Pfizer Inc., the world's leading research-based pharmaceutical company, announced that it has decided to buy additional 33.77% equity stake in its Indian division in order to increase its holding stake to 75%.
The New York based pharmaceutical major said that it will spend around Rs 6.8 billion on the deal.
The acquirement will be done through Pfizer’s wholly-owned arm, Pfizer Investments Netherlands B.V.
The company seeks to purchase additional stake at Rs 675 per share.
Tata Group-owned British car maker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has entered into the advanced stages of talks with the British government and banks on a loan of £800 million (Rs 5,840 crore), which could help the company on stream and save 15,000 jobs.
According to reports, talks were at a delicate stage and depended upon whether the Midlands-based car manufacturer could give enough security to the administration and a syndicate led by Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds for the loans needed.
