San Francisco  - Apple unveiled its proposed new software for its genre-defining iPhone Tuesday and gave acolytes of the world's most popular smartphone the feature they most wanted: the ability to cut and paste text and pictures on the device.

Lack of the cut and paste facility had been one of the main drawbacks of the device, compared to competitors like the Blackberry.

Leading IT firm, HCL Technologies managed to bag an outsourcing project worth $350-million from Readers' Digest Association (RDA), a leading media firm headquartered in New York after a year long contention.

To protect IPTV services to BSNL customers, Verimatrix announced that it has provided its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for IPTV.

BSNL, which rolls out IPTV in India together with Smart Digivision Private Limited (SDPL), eyes more than three million IPTV subscribers in 93 cities by the next three years.

Melbourne, Mar. 17: Australian software major Telstra has dumped scandal-ridden outsourcing partner Satyam from an applications support contract believed to be worth 32 million dollars a year.

EDS will pick up the embattled Indian outsourcing firm’s IT contracts with Telstra, sources told The Australian.

Telstra chief executive Sol Trujillo, who leaves the company on June 30, sat on the board of EDS before joining TELCO in 2005.

JSW Steel Ltd has decided to strengthen its focus on rural market.

To get deeper into the rural market, Mr. Sajjan Jindal, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Steels, said that the company, which has already opened 60 retail outlets through franchisee route, is planning to take it upto 600 outlets allover India by the next two years.

While talking to media persons at a seminar organized by NMDC in Hyderabad on Monday, Mr. Sajjan said that the company’s overall exports figure accounted for 40% of its production.

In a significant move, the state run Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has announced that it has awarded Rs. 1,182 crore outsourcing contract to IT major, Wipro Infotech.

ESIC is a constitutional firm which works under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. It is considered as the main implementing agency of social security scheme in the country.
