Tokyo - Tokyo stocks ended Friday morning trading mixed ahead of corporate earnings reports. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average was down 29.05 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 8,817.96.
But the broader Topix index of all first-section issues inched up 1.73 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 841.23.
Stocks moved narrowly in Tokyo as investors adopted a wait-and-see attitude ahead of Japanese firms releasing their earnings reports.

Marriott International Inc, the largest US hotel chain, posted a net loss of 25 million dollars in the first quarter, largely on one- time restructuring costs that signalled the company was on its way back to profits. Marriott shares jumped 12 per cent.
After volatile session, Indian Stock Markets bounced back smartly. Ending three days of consolidation and range-bound activity, NSE Nifty closed above its 200-day moving average of 3,392. The Sensex hit an intraday high of 11,203 before closing the day at 11,135 up 317 points or 2.93%. The Nifty ended up 2.8% or 93 points higher at 3,424 after hitting a high of 3,439 and low of 3310.
