Buttler wants to draw inspiration from Prior on Test debut for England

Jos-ButtlerLondon, July 26 - England's Test debutant Jos Buttler wants to draw inspiration from Matt Prior to become one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen in the world.

The English county cricket club Lancashire player, who will make his Test debut against India on Sunday at Hampshire's Rose Bowl, said that it is an incentive that with the right work ethic, he feels he has the talent to develop into that and knows that it is obtainable from Prior's example.

Buttler comes in for the third Test after Prior stood down from England duty because of injury and the Lancashire player has appeared in 33 ODIs and 36 Twenty20s for England, The BBC reported.

Buttler was tipped to replace Prior in the Test line-up after hitting England's fastest ODI century against Sri Lanka in June, but was called up as cover for Prior for the first Test at Trent Bridge.

Buttler said that he needed to improve before playing Test cricket but now feels that he has the confidence to make the most of his opportunity. He said that mentally he is closer to playing Test cricket than he thought he perhaps was.

The wicketkeeper-batsman said that Test cricket is a step into the unknown but he has been playing international cricket and knows the set-up and the guys, which he feels helps him with that transition. (ANI)
