New Delhi, Oct 5 : The Election Commission Monday announced that bye-elections to Firozabad Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh and 31 assembly seats in seven states will be held Nov 7.
The assembly bypolls will be held for 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in West Bengal, three seats in Kerala, two each in Rajasthan, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh and one seat in Chhattisgarh.
Counting of votes would be held on Nov 10, the poll panel said.
The bye-election to Firozabad Parliament Constituency is being held following the resignation of Samajwadi Party chief Malayam Singh Yadav's son Akhilesh Yadav, who had also been elected from Kannauj parliamentary constituency, which he chose to retain.
The Samajwadi Party has already decided to field Akhilesh's wife Dimple as its candidate from the seat. (IANS)
