Celina Jaitley Announces Queer Film Festival in Mumbai
The Mumbai International Queer Film Festival named 'Kashish', which is going to be the biggest LGBT i.e., Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender event, in India, will commence on April 22.
It will be a four-day festival aiming at stimulating the minds of people and provoking them to think over the issue of gay rights. The festival will undertake the screening of 110 films from more than 25 countries at two different venues in Mumbai.
Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley, who is also a gay rights activist, released the trailer of the festival in Mumbai, on Thursday.
She said that the festival is likely to unite filmmakers, activists, academicians, writers, intellectuals, stars and other celebrities. It will observe both the LGBT and the mainstream audience participating in the interactive celebration.
The films will be screened in at 'mainstream' venues like PVR Cinemas in Juhu and Alliance Francaise, Marine Lines.
For the first time in India, a Queer film festival will be observed in multiplexes.
