‘Chance Pe Dance’: Pitiful storyline, far too ‘predictable’

‘Chance Pe Dance’ is a tried-and-tested-formula story of the dreams, aspirations, struggle and ultimate triumph of a Bollywood struggler in a rather unconvincing manner – so much so that the film actually is far ‘too predictable,’ right from the beginning till the end!

The story revolves around Samir (Shahid Kapoor), a talented and passionate Bollywood hopeful, who is supposedly an embodiment of a host of those wide-eyed newcomers who come to Mumbai with hopes galore. The struggler Samir auditions relentlessly; works as a courier boy; has vada pao for meals; and even ends up living out of his car as he cannot afford to pay the rent of a room.

However, the shoddy and somewhat bland storyline fails to connect the audience with Samir’s struggles, more so as Samir is shown in ‘star mode’ from the very outset – he sports nicely messy hair; the right definition biceps, and wears T-Shirts are Ed Hardy, which a character in the film elaborates are all take offs!

A spirited choreographer Tina (Genelia D'Souza) lends a helping hand to Samir during the days of his struggle; and eventually, Samir realizes that life gives everyone one chance to make it big -- and he grabs the chance when it comes his way!

However, the meandering and stumbling pitiful script, weaved with unnecessary tracks to drag along, does not give the characters much to hold on to; and ‘Chance Pe Dance’ falls flat!
