New York  - US beverages company Coca-Cola reported Tuesday that its second-quarter profit surged 43 per cent year-on-year to 2 billion dollars, with the company citing strong cost savings as a factor.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based soft drink giant said the earnings came on 8.3 billion dollars, down some 9 per cent from the second quarter of 2008.(dpa)
