Come Tuesday, Tamiflu to be available at select stores in the country

TamifluIn a landmark decision that will check the spread of deadly swine flu in the country, the government of India has come to a decision that the sale of Tamiflu tablets (also known as Fluvir) will start from Tuesday.

The government has short listed nearly eight companies to distribute the Tamiflu tablets to 20 chemists.

The Fluvir tablets costs Rs 449 for a strip of 10 tablets.

Notably, only a small number of private hospitals and government registered centers were authorized so far to distribute these drugs.

Meanwhile, the H1N1 virus turned more deadly on Monday as another person died of it Pune, taking the death toll in the state to 57.

Informing the reporters, the health officials said that a three-month-old and a six-year-old admitted to Sassoon General Hospital died of H1N1 flu symptoms.

Earlier, on Sunday over 15 people had tested positive with the virus in the city.

Notably, the city of Pune in Maharashtra has recorded the most number of swine flu deaths in the country so far.
