Cranberry Juice Helps Lower High Blood Pressure
A new study carried out by Roger Corder, professor at Queen Mary University of London, has disclosed that drinking cranberry juice may be better for lowering high blood pressure levels.
Author of The Red Wine Diet, Roger Corder, BSc, MSc, PhD, MRPharmS, discovered oligomeric procyanidins, which avert blood vessel constriction that leads to heart disease, in cranberries.
Corder explained, "... cranberry juice is a very promising alcohol-free alternative. We have now identified oligomeric procyanidins as the specific compound in cranberries that can boost the health of blood vessels, helping to prevent blood vessel constriction - a leading cause of high blood pressure".
The study results were published January 28 in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry. (With Input from Agencies)
