The root cure for cancer seems to be very near. Boffins have found the malicious protein-Dab2 which allows the epithelial cells to disperse and forms tumor in different parts of the body.

Cancer is initiated by a process of epithelial mesenchymal transdifferentiation (EMT). This process allows the synthesis of new epithelial cells from the original site of cancer and then transforming them into mensenchymal cells
(cells with an ability to multiply fast; like tumor). The EMT process is activated by the Disabled-2 or the Dab2 protein and after suppressing the Dab2 the process didn't take off.

This finding might put a plausible end to cancer provided the work is efficiently tested and retested. The reason being; the aftermath- that generally leads to a state which triggers the growth of other form of new diseases. As far as this test is concerned researchers believe that this is a milestone achieved w. r. t. the cancer (especially breast, ovarian, pancreatic etc.) as EMT process hold down can cause drastic difference.
