Dabangg Rules The Mirchi Awards!Sallman-starrer Dabangg continued its winning spree and bagged the top honors at the Uninor Mirchi Music Awards 2010.

Powered by Karbonn Mobiles, the impressive celebration Uninor Mirchi Music Awards 2010 took place on Thursday evening at the Bandra Kurla Complex.

According to the reports, Dabangg's hot item number 'Munni Badnaam Hui' bagged prize under two sections including the `best song of the year' and `best item song'.

Dabangg also pocketed awards for best male singer (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for Tere Mast Mast Do Nain), best background score (Sandeep Shirodkar), best music director (Sajid-Wajid), best female singer and best forthcoming singer of the year (Mamta Sharma for Munni Badnaam Hui).

This year novel categories such as Best Raag Inspired Song, Best Indipop Song, Best Item Number, Best song in Sufi Tradition and Best Album of the Golden Era, were introduced with the intention to make the awards more forward-looking, widespread and exciting.

The award for Best song in Sufi Tradition went to 'Sajdaa', from SRK-Kajol starrer My Name is Khan.

On the other hand, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy won the best programmer and arranger award for the song Noor E Khuda.

Gulzar won the best lyricist award for Dil To Baccha Hai Ji from Ishqiya, and Salman Afridi and Farhad Dadyburjor bagged the best sound recording award for the same song.

Sheila Ki Jawani from Akki-starrer Tees Maar Khan bagged award under the `best song-listeners' choice' section.

Ace playback singers Sonu Nigam and Shaan hosted the award ceremony and made the event more exciting and entertaining.

The ceremony also witnessed the energetic trio of Usha Uthup, Bappi Lahiri and DJ Lloyd thrilling the stage with retro remix songs like I am a Disco Dancer, Ramba Ho, Yaad aa raha hai and others.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal sang all-time numbers like Shukran allah, O Bekhabar, Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai and Zoobi Doobi.

Music director Ravi pocketed the Lifetime Achievement award, while film music instrumentalist Charanjit Singh bagged the jury award for excellent contribution to Bollywood.
